Whiteville has put a curfew in place as part of its state of emergency order.
Only travel for “essential travel for work, medical, and emergency purposes” will be permitted between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. during the storm.
The curfew takes effect today and will run until lifted by the city manager and mayor.
Officials hope the curfew will cut down on the number of storm repeated wrecks, which could endanger both the public and first responders.
