Columbus County Government offices will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 3, due to ongoing hazardous road conditions following the recent winter storm.
While conditions have improved on major roadways, county spokesman Howard Wallace said, many secondary and rural roads across the county remain unsafe, with lingering snow and ice continuing to create dangerous travel conditions. This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution to protect the safety of county employees and the public.
Residents are strongly encouraged to limit travel and remain off roadways, particularly on untreated secondary and rural routes.
Residents in need of a warm, safe place are reminded that the Facts of Life Church warming center remains open.
County officials will continue to monitor conditions and will provide updates regarding reopening as road conditions improve.
