On Saturday, the NCHSAA announced the playoff pairings of the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. Local schools will participate in several brackets.
Some games are scheduled to start at 6 p.m., some at 7 p.m., and some times may change due to travel and scheduling. So, with no further ado, this is the local high school playoff games and dates as of this time:
1A Girls
#5 East Columbus-BYE
They will host the winner of the #12 Hobgood (10-10)/#21 North Eastern Carolina Prep (3-15) on Thursday Feb. 26.
2A Girls
#6 East Bladen-BYE
They will host the winner of the #11 Manteo (8-9)/#22 Rosewood (6-15) contest on Thursday Feb. 26.
3A Girls
#17 Whiteville (11-13) travels to #16 Heide Trask (11-13) on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
#22 West Bladen (5-17) will go to Louisburg (10-11) on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
#23 South Columbus (5-18) will travel to #10 Farmville Central (13-9) on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
1A Boys
#23 Hobgood Charter (4-17) will travel to #10 East Columbus (10-11), the Carolina Conference Regular Season Co-Champions on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
2A Boys
#20 Research Triangle Park (6-15) will go to Cerro Gordo to face #13 West Columbus (12-12), the Carolina Conference Regular Season Co-Champions, on Tuesday. Feb. 24.
#18 Lejeune (7-10) will go to East Bladen (10-15), the Carolina Conference Tournament Champions, on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
3A Boys
#7 West Bladen, the Southeastern Conference Champions,-BYE
The Knights (20-6) will host the winner of #10 Greene Central (14-9)/ #23 Bartlett-Yancey (6-14) winner on Thursday, Feb. 26.
#18 Ayden-Grifton (11-13) will travel to #15 Whiteville (13-11) on Tuesday, Feb. 24 to face the Wolfpack.
#24 South Columbus (24) will be on the road to take on #9 Wallace-Rose Hill (18-5) on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
