Social media led authorities to find a child who apparently fled a foster home in Chadbourn and ended up staying with a woman in Leland.
Kimberly Hope Ramsey, 45, was held under a secured bond, charged with multiple counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and resist, obstruct or delay an officer in Brunswick and Columbus counties, according to court documents.
The sheriff’s office said deputies were called to investigate a runaway juvenile Dec. 18. The teen boy was reported missing from a foster home in Chadbourn.
The youth was located after investigators and a Dept. of Social Services Worker contacted family members, and began checking social media. The boy was found unharmed in Ramsey’s home in Leland.
Warrants say that from November through February, Ramsey prevented officials from knowing the boy’s whereabouts, and gave him money via ApplePay.
