Lake Waccamaw Town Hall and Friends of Rube McCray Library will be hosting a very special guest on Feb. 26. Dereck Whittenburg, member of the legendary 1983 N.C. State National Championship basketball team, will be signing his book, The Shoot Heard Around the World: How I Went from the Playground to the White House, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Whittenburg is also currently over the Community Relations, Fundraising, and Student Support at N.C. State as their Associate Athletic Director.
Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase for $30 (cash or credit card). All proceeds from the book will benefit the Dereck Whittenburg Foundation, a non-profit offering financial assistance to deserving college students facing hindrance of finance as a barrier to completion of their college degrees.
