Town Manager Damon Kempski submitted his 30-day notice to the Town of Lake Waccamaw Thursday.

“I’ve been here for five years, seven months and three mayors,” he said. “It was time. There is nothing wrong – it was just time.”
He came to Lake Waccamaw in 2020 from Loris, where he served as town manager and with parks and recreation there. The lake has faced some unique challenges, he said, and he expects the staff and town will continue to meet future whatever may come about in the future.
Kempski said he hopes to be leaving the town in better shape than when he arrived. He also the ongoing infrastructure projects “will be in good hands.”
