Traces of crystal methamphetamine were found in a child’s system during an endangerment case, according to the sheriff’s office.
The juvenile’s mother and grandmother were both arrested Tuesday following an investigation by the sheriff’s office and Dept. of Social Services.

Katelyn Rose Richardson, 26, and Lynn Richardson, 55, both of 129 Dudney Lane, Chadbourn, were held under $35,000 secured bond each, charged with two counts each of exposing a child to a controlled substance. Lynn Richardson was also charged with driving while license revoked and failure to secure a passenger under 16.
The report said officials were referred to the home over alleged unsafe living conditions and suspect drug use. A minor child was removed from the home by DSS and the sheriff’s office, and testing showed the child had been exposed to crystal meth.
The child is recovering, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
