Basketball Games Rescheduled
Schools are still out today and most government offices are operating on modified schedules as Columbus crawls out of last weekend’s winter storm.
The town of Chadbourn opened at 11 a.m. today and suspended its curfew. Whiteville’s curfew has also been lifted. City and county offices are closed today. Southeastern Community College, along with Columbus County and Whiteville City schools, are on remote learning.
Columbus County Schools will be on remote learning Wednesday.
Outpatient services at Columbus Regional are on a two-hour delay today. Patients will receive a call to reschedule appointments that were cancelled Monday.
All area basketball games and afterschool events set for Columbus and Bladen have been cancelled.
West Columbus will travel to East Bladen Thursday.
South Brunswick road trip to Whiteville on Monday.
Union will play at East Columbus Thursday.
South Columbus will travel to Red Springs Thursday.
West Bladen will play Fairmont at home Thursday.
The Warming Shelter is open at 7 p.m. at Facts of Life Church on Lee Street in Whiteville.
Trash pickup did not take place Monday or Tuesday in Whiteville. Operations will resume Wednesday. GFL will run one day behind in the county for the rest of the week.
The Columbus County Board of Elections will not hold its absentee meeting today.
Some area roadways still have patchy ice, but most of that will be gone today. A system will bring rain to the area tonight with the possibility of some freezing on roadways in the early morning hours.
