Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

A memorable snowstorm to close out the month of January 2026.

And now a memorable cold temps to kick off the month of February 2026.

An EXTREME COLD WARNING remains in place until at least 10 AM Monday. Wind chill values — what it feels like — will be around zero… if not below zero.

So if you’re going out to play in the snow today, BUNDLE UP.

Also be prepared for dangerously icy and snow-covered roads until at least TUESDAY. DOT crews will be doing the best they can to get them cleared, but with 6-12 inches of new snow, it’s going to take a few minutes to get that done. Secondary roads will be VERY ICY and SNOWY. If you MUST travel, it is imperative that you give yourself PLENTY of extra travel time. Call ahead… the place you want to go might be closed.

Aside from the bitter cold, dry weather will persist until midweek.

Temperatures finally go above freezing Tuesday, we should get into at least the lower 40s. Our next weather system arrives for Wednesday, and with that high temps of about 50. A frontal system will push off the coast bringing the likelihood of some rain Wednesday afternoon and evening, possibly ending as a little snow or mixed precip Wednesday night. This will be a case of cold air “chasing” the precipitation; I don’t anticipate any accumulating snow.

From there, we will be quiet going into the weekend… and we will FINALLY enjoy a weekend that should be dry and with near seasonable normal temperatures.

Enjoy the snow but bundle up, check on your neighbors, and use EXTREME caution if you’re out traveling.
