Here’s today’s Bottom Line:
We’ll have a very nice day today across Columbus County, with bright sunny skies and highs in the lower to middle 60s. Get out and enjoy it!
Then the rain arrives. Lots of it.
Beneficial rain arrives on Sunday. The consistent presence of a southern stream system with abundant moisture feed will bring a high confidence for widespread rainfall over the area. The latest modeling shows low pressure over the mid-south and southeastern US through early Monday. Expect rain to begin as showers by mid-morning Sunday, transitioning to a steady rain by suppertime. Periods of rain will linger into early Monday morning before coming to an end.
Some guidance suggests the presence of thunderstorm activity later Sunday afternoon into the early evening hours. The bulk of the instability (weak that it is) will remain to our south; however, some rumbles of thunder are possible over the area. Any “convective” activity will enhance our rainfall a little bit, but pinpointing those areas is impossible at this time.
Storm total rainfall of a good solid inch can expected, with local variability in rainfall amounts.
Looking beyond our weather system, expect dry and WARM temperatures though much of next week, with highs deep into the 70s… possibly flirting with the 80-degree-mark late in the week.
