Here’s today’s Bottom Line:
Today is going to be a GORGEOUS day across the area with highs pushing 70 under bright sunny skies. It’s a “call out of work sick day” today. As my mentor, Mr. Rich Lupia, would say, “get out and enjoy it.”
A weak cold front will drop southeast over the area on Wednesday and this will bring a chance for rain in the afternoon. Impacts will be minimal.
Temps then return to seasonal normal values Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Highs will run in the mid/upper 50s with mostly sunny skies through the period.
Then, our attention turns to a significant rain system that is likely to impact the area late Saturday through Sunday night. There are still considerable differences with the global models, but they all DO point to a heavy, soaking rainfall for our area.
National Blend of Models points to around 2 inches of rain for the area during this event. This is much-needed rainfall as, believe it or not, our area is still listed under “D1 moderate drought” status.
There is no threat … none whatsoever … that we are going to have any frozen precip. This is contrary to what some of the social media modelologists are posting. We’ll likely be firmly in the warm sector of this system, which means temps Sunday will be in the 60s with the soaking rainfall, and I wouldn’t rule out a few thunderstorms as well.
Dry weather will return early next week.
