LAKE WACCAMAW—Amber Ochoa pitched a complete game as the East Columbus Gators defeated South Columbus 11-2 in girls’ softball Thursday night.
The sophomore gave up two runs off six hits on the night while striking out four. Kamora Bryant belted a homerun and had five RBI’s while teammate Mackenzi Clemmons went 2 for 4 with two RBI’s. The Gators move to 2-1 on the year with the victory.
They will travel to Whiteville (0-2) on Monday for a county-rivalry game. The Stallions fall to 0-4 on the season. They will travel to Loris, S.C. on Monday to take on the Lions (4-0) on Monday.

RAEFORD—Niya Jones pitched a no-hitter as Hoke defeated Whiteville 10-0 in girls’ softball Saturday night.
The junior struck out seven batters in five innings pitched. Victoria Brock had a single and a double to go with four RBI’s and McKenzie Freeman was 3 for 3 with two runs batted in. Hoke County (2-1) will travel to St. Paul’s (0-2) on Friday (March 6). Whiteville (0-2) will host county-rival East Columbus (2-1) at home on Monday.
