Easter is just around the corner, and many churches and community organizations are announcing where your family can celebrate in Columbus County. Join Glory Tabernacle Church on Good Friday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. for Communion Service, and enjoy their Easter Sunday celebration on April 5 at 10:30 a.m. The church can be found at 4513 Pleasant Plains Church Road in Whiteville.
Pastor Marty Sellers has announced spring services at both Mishop Springs Community Church and Evergreen Methodist Church. Maundy Thursday service will be on April 2 at Mishop Springs at 6 p.m., and EMC will have the Good Friday celebration at 6 p.m. on April 3 with Easter Sunday sunrise service at 7 a.m. on April 5.
Western Prong Baptist Church will be hosting their annual community Easter event on April 4 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Enjoy fellowship, fun, and a great meal. Registration is required, and you can do so by scanning the QR code on the flyer. The church can be found at 167 Peacock Road in Whiteville.
The Veterans Memorial Park of America and New Hope Baptist Church will have a free Easter event on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Easter Story will be told in the Never Forget Garden, and there will be kids games, crafts, an egg hunt, and a hot dog lunch will be served. The Easter Bunny is also set to make an appearance.

Pleasant Plains Baptist Church will hold their Easter egg hunt on April 4 at 10 a.m. There will be tons of activities and lots of fun to be had by all. The church is located at 31 Pleasant Plains Church Road in Whiteville.
The Town of Fair Bluff will be hosting a community Easter event on Saturday April 4 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Join them for candy, fun, and games. The gathering will take place on Riverside Drive next to the Riverwalk.
Trinity Baptist Church will have their annual Easter Son-set Celebration on April 4 beginning at 6 p.m. with a special prayer event held at sunset. The evening will include food, fun, games, music, an egg hunt, prizes, and a guest appearance by the Easter bunny. The church’s address is 201 South Thompson Street in Whiteville.
Engage Life Church will have two worship services to celebrate Jesus’s resurrection. The Good Friday service will be on April 3 beginning at 7 p.m. and on Easter Sunday, April 5, with Discipleship classes at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30 with Pastor W. Craig Ray. Engage Life can be found at 386 Thompson Town Road in Whiteville.
Welcome PFWB Church has several events coming up during Holy Week. They will have a free community feeding from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot of the IGA in Tabor City, and on Saturday, April 4, at 3 p.m. the church will have their annual egg hunt.
Each child is asked to bring six hard boiled eggs to the event. The children will decorate the eggs, listen to the Easter story, and then the hunt will begin. WPFWB will have their Easter cantata on April 5 beginning at 11 a.m. The church’s address is 3104 Old Cribbtown Road in Chadbourn.
Columbus County Parks and Recreation still has dates and locations for their annual Easter egg hunts left for this weekend. Families are invited to enjoy a morning or afternoon full of fun, laughter, and egg-citing surprises for kids ages 12 and under.
This is a free community event, and all you need to bring is a basket and your best smile. If you miss one hunt, there will be other opportunities to attend another in the area. For more information, call the Recreation Department at 910.640.6624.
