Dogowner Pulls Gun on Animal Protective Services Officer

Authorities are investigating after a man allegedly brandished a rifle from inside his truck during a dispute with an Animal Protective Services employee.

The report said the APS officer was attempting to get a dog out of the road at Silver Spoon and Old Lumberton roads Tuesday when the incident occurred. A man identifying himself as the dog’s owner pulled up to the scene around 2:10 p.m. and said he was there to retrieve the animal.

“During the interaction,” the report said, “the subject allegedly displayed a rifle from inside his vehicle before placing it back and leaving the area with the dog.”

No shots were fired and no injuries reported. The incident is under investigation.
