Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

This is one of the easier blogs to write as our weather conditions will be more appropriate for mid-May.

This is thanks to a huge Bermuda high pressure ridge parked offshore. This will result in unseasonable warmth right through the forecast period, with afternoon highs jumping into the lower 80s.

Humidity values will also be creeping higher, especially Friday through the weekend, with dewpoint values pushing into the 60s (which is normal for late May). Mainly south to southwest winds will prevail during this period,
allowing for a healthy sea breeze to spread inland each afternoon. I think there’s going to be enough sinking air (known as “subsidence”), and this, combined with a rather weak wind flow aloft, should keep any pop-up storm threat rather low… the best chances at this point Sunday and Monday. Honestly, even that’s a stretch.

This will be a full-on jump-start to the spring growing season… and allergy season. The latest long range GFS ensembles bring temps back down closer to seasonal normal values by mid-month, but even then may still run a touch above normal. The Euro ensembles also illustrate above-normal temps through about mid-month, and then a return to seasonal normal values.
