Woman Jailed on Fraud, Larceny Charges

Detectives arrested a New Britton Highway woman on multiple theft and fraud charges after she allegedly forged a man’s name and stole more than $100,000 in cash and property.

Jennifer Parker, 48, of 2998 New Britton Hwy., Whiteville, was held under $25,000 bond, according to detention center reports. She was charged with 15 counts of felony larceny, five counts of identity theft, and one each of safecracking obtaining property by false pretense, and altering a title.

Columbus detectives worked with Cumberland County investigators on the case, according to a press release.

“During the course of the investigation,” the press release said, “detectives determined that Mrs. Parker utilized stolen identities and multiple elaborate schemes to unlawfully obtain property from the victim under false pretenses.

“The investigation revealed a pattern of deceptive practices designed to exploit victims for personal financial gain.”

Investigators discovered that she also used the name Jennifer Diane Pressley,

Warrants show that Parker allegedly stole a pool table, appliances, silverware, 13 firearms, a Honda automobile along with cash and other items, over an extended period of time. The total value of the property was in excess of $100,000.

Parker was arrested March 18 without incident, the sheriff’s office said. The investigation is continuing.
