April 30 Softball Roundup: Gators Crush Patriots; Stallions Top Pack

EAST COLUMBUS 15, PENDER 1

LAKE WACCAMAW—Aleigh Godwin had three RBI’s on two hits to lead East Columbus past Pender 15-1 in softball Monday night.

Jenna King added three runs batted in on a home run as the Gators go to 17-5 on the year. East Columbus is tied at 8-1 in the Carolina Conference with North Duplin going into the last regular season games for both teams. The Gators will go to East Bladen (6-3, 8-11) on Thursday. A win will give them the conference title outright or at least a tie, depending on what North Duplin does against Lakewood on April 30.

SOUTH COLUMBUS 17, WHITEVILLE 4

WHITEVILLE—Eden Cartrette had three hits and two RBI’s in leading South Columbus past Whiteville 17-4 in softball Tuesday night.

The win moves the Stallions to 6-3 in the conference and 8-11 on the year. The Stallions are now in a three-way tie with South Brunswick and West Bladen for second place. South Columbus (8-11) will do a rematch against Whiteville (1-8, 2-13) in Tabor City on Thursday. The Cougars and Knights play April 30 with both games deciding the final standings in the Southeastern Conference.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK 10, WEST BLADEN 0

BOILING SPRINGS—Lacie Britt allowed three hits in four innings to lead the Cougars past West Bladen 10-0 in softball Tuesday night.

Both teams are tied with South Brunswick (6-3) for second place in the Southeastern Conference. West Bladen (9-10) and South Brunswick (8-11) will do a rematch in Dublin on Thursday. This game and the South Columbus-Whiteville results on April 30 will determine the final standings in the conference.

ELIZABETHTOWN—Gracie Edward had two hits and two RBI’s to put East Bladen on top of Lakewood 19-3 in softball on Tuesday night.

The win moves East Bladen to 6-3 in the Carolina Conference and 8-11 on the season.  The Eagles will host East Columbus (8-1, 17-5) on Thursday. Lakewood (2-7, 4-14) will entertain North Duplin (8-1, 12-1) on April 30.

CALYPSO—Lilly Fulgram had three hits and added three RBI’s as North Duplin pounded West Columbus 15-0 in softball on Tuesday night.

The win kept the Rebels in a first-place tie with East Columbus (8-1) in the Carolina Conference standings. North Duplin (12-) will go to Lakewood (2-7, 4-14) on April 30 for their final regular season contest. West Columbus (4-6, 4-11) has finished its regular season games and awaits the 2A playoff brackets to be announce on Saturday.
