Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Sunday greetings! Thanks for checking in with the CCN Daily Weather Blog.
Here’s our updated rain-free streak:
YES!!! The streak is OVER!!! One-one-hundredth of an inch of precipitation occurred at my station in Whiteville on Saturday. It’s… nothing… but it’s something that wet the ground.
The showers we’ve received during the overnight have been nice, but not likely to significantly improve the D2-D3 drought currently in place across the area. Six-month rainfall deficits are in the 10+ inch range, so even a solid inch of rain would only but a slight dent in our drought.
Once the showers end this morning we’ll be dry again for a little while. Moisture returns on Wednesday with more appreciable rain chances in the form of a cold front moving through into Thursday. Unsettled weather lingers through the end of the week as some weak disturbances move through. Really the best rain chances for the week will be on Wednesday with the frontal passage, but don’t get too excited about that. Modeling suggests rainfall will be a third of an inch or less… to perhaps half an inch in total over the remainder of the week if we can get some thunderstorms. Temps look to trend a bit cooler going into the first weekend in May.
