Here’s today’s Bottom Line

Greetings and welcome to the Thursday edition! Thank you for taking a few minutes to check out the Daily Weather Update blog!

Here’s our updated rain-free streak:

Smoky skies for today thanks to some tremendously huge wildfires in southern Georgia. The strong southwesterly wind flow will bring that smoke up the eastern Carolinas today, resulting in rather smoky/hazy conditions throughout the day.

We DESPERATELY need rain. At this point it is going to take between 15 and 20 (!!) inches of rain over the next 3 months to break the drought… the chances of that happening are less than 20%.

A good many of us should see some rain this weekend thanks to a cold front that will push through the area. The best chances for showers and thunderstorms will be later Saturday afternoon through Saturday night, with some scattered showers on Sunday.

The NBM shown above indicates between a third and a half inch of rain is possible from the event this weekend. Unfortunately, it’s like a grain of sand on the Sahara when compared with what we need.

Monday should be dry before the front pushes back north as a warm front on Tuesday with more showers possible.

There are indications that our weather could be somewhat unsettled for a good part of next week.
