Here’s today’s Bottom Line

A couple more days of sunshine and heat will dominate our area thanks to a narrowing ridge of high pressure at the surface and aloft. Temps will once again easily climb into the 90s today and tomorrow with muggy lows tonight in the upper 60s.

A frontal system will approach the area Thursday. Whether or not the front actually crosses over Columbus County remains to be seen; it is likely to “hang up” over or close to the area. The front then lifts back to the north Friday. This allows a very warm and humid air mass to be locked in place through the weekend with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms.

It won’t be raining everywhere all the time, and it’s really impossible to predict what the coverage of showers/storms will be for the weekend… but chances are very good that any outdoor plans may require the rapid initiation of “plan B” as showers/storms occur.

Some areas could pick up several inches of rain through this period, while others receive relatively little. It’ll be the luck of the draw.

The unsettled weather is likely to continue into Memorial Day as well.
