Welcome to summer! Today is the longest day of the year… and the sun is at the highest angle of the year.
Strong ridging high pressure just south of us will bring dry weather and seasonably hot temps today. Make sure you’re using the sunscreen and staying well hydrated if you have outdoor plans as the UV index goes off the top of the chart.
At the surface this coming week, a weak little “front” pushes through the area and then windshield-wipers back and forth through the end of the week. This will be the spark that aids in at least isolated afternoon storm development with otherwise mostly sunny skies and seasonable temps through the work week. The highest thunderstorm chances appear to be on Tuesday afternoon, and Tuesday also appears to be the hottest day of the week. Aside from this weak little frontal boundary over the area, no other significant storm systems are on the horizon.
