Tabor Talk for July 27

By Cynthia Nelson

Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce

As July is nearing its end, August means back to school for our area youth.

Many of our area businesses will be having Back to School special sales events.  Be sure to look for these when you’re out and about shopping. As always, we encourage you to #ShopLocal.

When you Shop Local and Shop Small you are helping friends and neighbors provide for their families.  You’re also most likely supporting someone who has helped you by sponsoring a local event, sports team, scouts, church, and much more.

As school soon begins around us, let’s keep an eye out for our children as they get on and off buses. That’s another thing we need to be reminded of – the bus traffic on roads and streets will soon increase, so let’s be aware.

There is a Free Back to School Community Event coming up on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 2 – 6 p.m. at 102 Live Oak Street.  There will be free activities and free hot dogs for all. We hear there may be a big surprise in store as well so save the date and listen for more info.

We hope you will take advantage of the various End-of-Season Sales in our business community. Put on some comfortable clothes and shoes and get to gettin’ looking for those bargains. Our businesses are waiting to see you.

If you would ever like to sponsor any of our events, please reach out to us by phone or email.  We would whole-heartedly welcome you.

Reminder:  The N.C. Yam Festival is less than three months away.  Please start thinking about decorating our community to show your love for the festival and for the fall season. Let’s make our Yam Man proud!  More announcements to come.
