Here’s today’s Bottom Line
It was feast or famine on Friday, as far as the rain goes. Here in Whiteville, we got a grand total of 0.01 inch of rain. Other parts of Columbus County picked up a couple inches of rainfall. That’s the nature of “scattered showers and thunderstorms.”

More “scattered showers and thunderstorms” are likely today … and it’s going to be another day of feast-or-famine. Some areas are going to get quite a bit of rainfall while others get little, if anything.
The National Weather Service has continued the Flood Watch for the region due to this potential for areas of flooding rainfall. The ground remains dry and hard so episodes of heavy rain will simply run off leading to flooding of poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Things dry out as this culprit frontal boundary dissipates. Sunshine and heat return for the first part of the work week, with afternoon thunderstorms becoming a thing toward mid-week.
