As area football teams scrimmaged Friday, local soccer teams kicked the season off for real.
In Whiteville, West Brunswick and Whiteville played to a 2-2 tie on Friday in soccer. Whiteville (1-0-2) and West Brunswick (1-0-1) will do a rematch today in Shallotte.
At Tabor City, North Brunswick scored early and often as they demolished South Columbus 10-0 on soccer on Saturday. Dylan Flores scored three goals and had an assist and teammate Oscar Rodriguez added two goals for the Scorpions (3-0).
North Brunswick will host St. Paul’s (0-2) Wednesday. The Stallions (0-3) will try to regroup against East Bladen (0-1-1) in Vinegar Hill today.
In Wilmington, Purnell Swett got the best of East Bladen 1-0 in the Bash at The Beach Soccer Invitational. Cy Moore scored a goal and Brandon Brooks hade five saves for the Rams (1-0).
East Bladen will face South Columbus (0-3) and Purnell Swett will host Seventy-First (0-1) today.
