In Elizabethtown, East Bladen got its second win of the year as they defeated Whiteville 3-0 in girls’ volleyball on Tuesday. The Eagles (2-0) beat the Pack (0-2) by scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-21 to take the contest.
Taylor Dowless had six kills while Keri Burgess delivered nine blocks for the Eagles in the win. East Bladen defeated Heide Trask 3-1 on Monday in their season opener.
East Bladen will host Clinton (0-0) on Thursday. Whiteville will host county rival East Columbus (0-1) on Aug. 13. East Bladen’s JV team won their match with Whiteville also 2-0.
In Tabor City, South Columbus served up 14 aces in its 3-0 victory over county rival East Columbus. The Stallions took the match by scores of 25-9, 25-22, and 25-22.
Morgan Boyd nailed seven kills for the Stallions, who are now 1-0 on the season. South Columbus will travel to West Brunswick (0-1) on Thursday. East Columbus (0-1) will travel to county rival Whiteville (0-2) on Thursday Aug. 13.
