Here’s today’s Bottom Line
The heat wave continues…
Heat advisory is in place today for heat index value between 105-110. Heat advisories or extreme heat warnings will be issued for Friday. No doubt.
High pressure ridge will remain in place until a cold front pushes southward on Saturday. This front will become stationary across southern South Carolina by Sunday before dissipating as the high pressure ridge reasserts itself.
Modeling shows another cold front pushing over the area sometime in the early to middle part of next week with high pressure pushing in from the north. Should this end up being the case, we could see a break in this August heat wave. Until then… we sweat.
Tropics: Tropical Storm Cristobal has formed in the north-central Atlantic. This entity will be gone by Friday morning.
Invest 92L: This has a high likelihood of developing into a tropical system by the Friday or Saturday. Ensemble plots have a fairly wide range but they’re starting to hone onto a path south of the islands of the Caribbean. It does not appear this will be a threat to the US east coast.
Invest 94L: This has a 50% risk of tropical system development over the next 7 days. Ensemble plots brings this in a more concerning direction… should this develop (and there’s some uncertainty in that regard). Conditions don’t look overly favorable that this storm will be long-lived as of this time but this bears watching. Right now I don’t think it’s anything to lose sleep worrying about.
