LAKE WACCAMAW–Hobbton built a 23-0 lead and never looked back as the Wildcats beat East Columbus 32-03 on Friday night in The Swamp.
Braxton McLamb threw two touchdown passes and Javarius Johnson ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Hobbton scored first as McLamb found Richard Simpson for a touchdown for an 8-0 advantage. McLamb threw his second touchdown on the night to push the Wildcats lead to 16-0.
Javarius Johnson rushed for a touchdown in the second quarter to push the score to Hobbton 23, East Columbus 0.
East Columbus ran one in before the half to cut the lead to 23-7 at the intermission. The Gators’ Demetrius Dexter found Dawson Crosby for a touchdown pass to cut the lead to 23-13 in the third quarter.
Johnson put the game out of each with a rushing touchdown to make the score 30-13 in favor of Hobbton. The Wildcats added a safety to make the final score 32-13.
Hobbton is now 1-0 in the Carolina Conference and 1-4 on the season. They will host East Bladen (1-0, 3-2) on Friday, while East Columbus (0-1, 2-3) will travel to Union (3-1).
