A joint operation between Whiteville Police, the sheriff’s office, and the State Bureau of Investigation jailed two alleged drug traffickers and pulled a quantity of narcotics off the street.

Marion Lamont Flowers, 42, of 215 S. Railroad St., Chadbourn, and Courney Williams, 35, of 2394 Georgia Pacific Rd., were arrested Tuesday “without incident,” according to a press release from Whiteville Police.

Williams was charged with a single count of trafficking methamphetamine, and held under a $100,000 bond.

Flowers faces more than 40 charges ranging from trafficking in cocaine and methamphetamine to possession with intent to sell and deliver MDMA and possession of a firearm by a felon. His bond was set at $1.85 million. The charges were filed by both agencies.

The press release said WPD and the SBI began an investigation into Flowers and Williams in December. Sheriff Jody Greene said in a press release that Vice Narcotics agents began eyeing the pair after citizen complaints. Multiple undercover buys for “trafficking amounts” of cocaine were made from Flowers, Greene said.

Flowers was arrested in the parking lot of the Whiteville Mini Mall.

The release said, officers seized a handgun a half-pound of cocaine, more than a kilo (2.2 pounds) of methamphetamine, an ounce of heroin, numerous pills, two vehicles and $6,000 in cash. The drugs had a street value of approximately $70,000, Chief Douglas Ipock said in the news release.

“All our agencies are dedicated to fighting drugs and arresting those involved in the drug trade,” Ipock said. “It was a great team effort and to get that many drugs off the street is a huge win for the community.”
