There were cheers, pom-poms, airhorns and applause for the Whiteville DYB World Series winners Tuesday as they had a parade. The team and the Dixie Darlings softball crew met at the Roses parking lot to decorate their vehicles before making their run through downtown.

The Whiteville Majors were honored with a parade and at the Whiteville City Council Tuesday night as part of continuing accolades for their World Series win.
The team will also be honored, along with the Dixie Darlings softball squad, at the first home game of the Whiteville Wolfpack football team.

The grownups obviously had as much fun as the ball players Tuesday as they were getting ready for the parade through downtown. The procession was escorted by the Fire Department, Whiteville Fire Department, Whiteville Police and Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.
