The N.C. Yam Festival will go on in Tabor City next month.
The festival committee said in a press release today that the 50-year-old event will continue, with come modifications due to COVID-19. At a meeting last week, the board discussed cancelling, curtailing or going virtual for another year, due to rising COVID cases in the county.
Some events may not take place, the release said. Festival goers are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing, as well as having hand sanitizer along.
“If you are not comfortable attending any event or the festival at large, we understand and hopefully, we will see you next year,” the release said. “Remember, if you so choose to attend the festival, please be respectful and mindful of those around you so we may all enjoy a Yam good time!”
