Lukim Lamont Pittman will serve 81 months in federal prison for selling drugs and a Glock handgun to undercover informants.
Eastern District U.S. Attorney G. Norman Acker announced this morning (Friday) that Pittman received the sentence for possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime . The plea came in U.S. District Court in Raleigh.
Pittman was one of four suspects arrested as a joint effort by federal authorities and the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office in May, July and August 2019. He was previously convicted on multiple charges involving firearms. Pittman pleaded guilty in June.
While he lived at Bird Cage Estates, Pittman allegedly sold a Glock 19 9mm and narcotics to undercover operatives. Sheriff Jody Greene noted that the federal charges were made possible because members of his staff are also deputized as federal officers.
The sheriff’s office and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms investigated the case. Asst. U.S. Attorney Charity Wilson prosecuted the case before U.S. District Court Judge James C. Dever.
