Officials are investigating the cause of the second structure fire in less than 48 hours at a High Orchard Road home.
Deputy Fire Marshal Chase Lancaster said a neighbor called 911 Thursday night after hearing a fire alarm going off at 64 High Orchard. Brunswick firefighters found an “active structure fire” on their arrival, Lancaster said.
The same home was damaged Wednesday morning when someone broke a window and ignited what appeared to be lighter fluid inside, the sheriff’s office reported. That fire caused around $5,000 in damages.
The home was vacant, and the new owners expected to close Monday, Lancaster said.
The cause of the second fire is under investigation.
Brunswick was assisted by North Whiteville, Whiteville Rescue, the Fire Marshal’s office and the sheriff’s office.
