A mechanic was killed Friday at his home in Old Dock, and his fiancé has been charged with second degree murder.

Jennifer Crafford Scurdato, 38, is being held under no bond in the Columbus Detention Center. Jail reports show she was charged with a single count of second degree murder Saturday night.

Norm Foggan, 57, was shot to death around 7 a.m. Friday at the Snake Island Road home he shared with Scurdato. He was the owner of Alternative Automotive in Whiteville.

Friends confirmed Foggan and Scurdato lived at the home and worked together at the garage, located on J.K. Powell Boulevard South in Whiteville.

It was the second killing in the county this year. The homicide is under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
