William Leonn Kinlaw (CCSO Detention)

An assault victim in Tabor City used an unusual weapon to defend herself Friday – gasoline.

Arrest reports from Tabor City Police and the Columbus Detention Center show William Leonn Kinlaw, 41, of 312 Wall St., Tabor City, was charged with assault on a female and held under a $2,000 secured bond.

The report showed that a someone at the Vasco station on East Fifth called 911 around 5:22 p.m. after Kinlaw was seen allegedly beating and punching the female victim. The victim then “slung gas” all over Kinlaw, the report said, and managed to flee the scene.

The caller told police Kinlaw was bleeding from a head injury and starting to remove his clothes when the 911 call was made. His injuries were not severe, and Kinlaw was taken to the Detention Center, where he was booked and released on bond.
