Firearms Stolen in Multiple Thefts

Thieves targeted AR-15 rifles and handguns in multiple thefts being investigated by the sheriff’s office in recent days.

Reports show that Ned Wayne Taste Jr. contacted law enforcement just after midnight July 22 after his Taurus handgun was taken from a vehicle at the intersection of Orange and Bruce streets in Fair Bluff. The pistol was valued at $200.

Someone stole an AR-15 rifle from a Cedar Branch Road home later the same day. Shaneilia Freeman said the Del-Ton rifle was valued at $1,000.

On July 22, Dyshawn Baldwin called 911 after someone took an Anderson AR-15, valued at $800, from his residence on Home Harrelson Road. The thief also took a quantity of prescription medicine in that case.

A Springfield Hellcat 9mm handgun was stolen from Cherry Street in Cerro Gordo on July 26, according to a sheriff’s report. Erica Hood said the handgun was valued at $750.

A Springfield .45 semiautomatic and a .22 revolver were stolen along with jewelry from a Macedonia Church Road home July 27. Sheriff’s reports show that Michael Hardin and Matthew Hardin reported the thefts. The handguns and jewelry were valued at $2,700.
