Curtis Levi Moore, 36, of Clarkton, was charged with six counts of trafficking opium/heroin, two counts each of trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking cocaine, and trafficking MDMA felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana; three counts of felony manufacturing Schedule II drugs; two felony counts of manufacturing opiates; and three counts of Misdemeanor Resisting Public Officer.  He is being held on a $1,001,500 secured bond.

The sheriff’s office Vice-Narcotics Unit was investigating complaints about drug sales in Brunswick when the arrest occurred, according to a press release. When they attempted a vehicle stop, Moore jumped from the moving vehicle and fled. Several officers exited their own vehicles and chased him down.

The driver bailed from the car and escaped into a wooded area. He is still being sought.

Moore was captured with a bag containing approximately $60,000 worth of narcotics, the press release said. Agents seized include 397 grams of Fentanyl, 140 grams of Oxycodone pills, 44 grams of MDMA, 201 grams of marijuana, 57 grams of cocaine, 18 grams of heroin, and 230 grams of methamphetamine.  They additionally located the precursors and requirements for manufacturing some of these narcotics.

The Vice-Narcotics Unit is tasked with the mission of conducting thorough investigations on narcotics dealers across Columbus County, Sheriff Bill Rogers said.

“Their goal is to build strong cases that will effectively remove these offenders from the population for an extended period of time, thereby safeguarding the citizens from their harmful influence.”

Rogers thanked the citizens of the Brunswick community for assisting the sheriff’s office with information.

“Many violations of the law are solved with assistance from vigilant citizens,” Rogers said. “This partnership creates a safer community for all.”
