Mr. Charles P. Long 80, of Hallsboro passed on Friday, March 1, 2024 in Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was born in Columbus County the son of the late Albert and Lela Mae Long.
Charles and his wife, Vendall owned and operated Long’s Florist working together for 45 years. After retiring from their florist business he worked with Walmart in Whiteville for 15 years. He was a member of Hallboro Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and working in their yard.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vendall Jordan Long; three sons, Charles Allen Long of Wilmington, Timothy Wayne Long and wife, Renee of Ocean Isle Beach, Keith Daniel Long and wife, Rene of Alabama; brothers, Billy Long and wife, Linda of Lake Waccamaw, Kenneth Long and wife, Jennie of Whiteville; sisters, Louise Worthington, and Myrtle Corbett and husband, Haywood of Whiteville; grandchildren, Brittany Brock and Josh, Brooke Long, Zachary Long and Emma Long; great grandchildren, Greyson Memory and Lela Mae Brock.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Hallsboro Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery.
