A fully-automatic pistol and a rifle stolen during Hurricane Matthew were among the firearms seized when Fair Bluff Police arrested a shooting suspect Sunday.

Kyle Bannon Tucker, 41, of 636 Strawberry Blvd., Chadbourn, was held under no bond. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, and four counts of possession of a stolen firearm, according to warrants and detention center records.

Tucker is alleged to have shot Tucker Washington Saturday during an argument. When Tucker was arrested Sunday, officers recovered four firearms, all of which had been repored stolen at various times.

The stolen weapons included a Browning .22 handgun; a Century Arms rifle; a Mossberg .22 rifle; and a Glock 19 handgun.

The Glock had been illegally converted to fully automatic using a so-called “switch,” the warrant said. The handguns and .22 rifles were reported stolen from individuals, while the Century Arms rifle had a longer history.

During Hurricane Matthew in 2016, multiple firearms and other valuables were looted from Murf’s Pawn on Madison Street in Whiteville. Thieves took advantage of the high water and lack of electricity to power alarm systems to ransack the store.

A handful of the stolen “Matthew Guns” have been recovered, including one in a Tabor City assault arrest and another in Georgia.
