James Carlton “Pete” Floyd

August 21, 1940 ~ August 11, 2024 (age 83)

James Carlton “Pete” Floyd, of Evergreen died peacefully Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center “Angel House” in Whiteville.

The oldest son of Carlton and Ruby Bullard Floyd. He was born and raised in Fair Bluff and moved to Evergreen in 1960 when he married Bobbie Jean Icard.

Pete was the parts manager for Sessions Farm Machinery in Whiteville and later at Biggs Tractor Company in Lumberton for many years.  He was an active member of Evergreen Baptist Church and Evergreen Fire Department for many years.  Pete served as PTA President for Evergreen Elementary School and a booster at West Columbus High School.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie, grandson, Boggan Sellers, brother, Tracy Floyd and a special friend, Willie Mae Moore.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Mark Floyd, daughters, Carla Bass (Timmy) and Kim Sellers (Pat), grandsons, Blair Bass and Trevor Sellers; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Harper, and Beckett Bass and Joanna Sellers; brother, and a brother, Tex Floyd.

A celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the Worthington Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tex Floyd officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
