Fugitive Caught After 110 MPH Chase

Deputies and troopers ended a high-speed chase with tire-deflation devices Monday and arrested a fugitive from South Carolina.

Kendan Quashan Crawford, 27, of Longs, S.C. was held under no bond as a fugitive and also faces multiple traffic charges, according to detention center records.

Cpl. J. Reaves was on patrol on Swamp Fox Highway East late Monday afternoon when Horry County Police reported they were in pursuit of a silver Honda automobile heading toward Tabor City. Reaves was positioned to intercept the speeding vehicle, and took over pursuit on Swamp Fox West.

Crawford was allegedly driving 110 miles per hour, the report said, weaving in and out of traffic. He also passed several vehicles on curves and in no passing zones. The Highway Patro, set up Stop Sticks at Main Street and Conway Road in Fair Bluff, where the driver lost control when a tire was flattened. The car came to rest against a tree in the yard of a home in 800 block of Main.
