If you were looking up to the skies for rain Monday afternoon, you might have seen something else. AJ Worley was the first to let ColumbusCountyNews.com know about the strange sphere floating over Columbus County at extremely high altitude.
ColumbusCountyNews.com has reached out to the National Weather Service and this is the update, that unidentified flying object that crossed Columbus County Monday has been well, identified. The silver sphere was visible for about an hour from Chadbourn to Riegelwood. It turned out to be an everyday weather balloon.
There was some speculation it was another Chinese spy balloon, like the one that crossed Columbus County and was shot down off Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
