Anyone in need of food assistance is welcome at a food distribution event set for April 19.
The Annie Catherine Pridgen Community Development Foundation (ACP), in collaboration with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and Jerusalem Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, will host a pop-up market April 19. This food distribution event is open to anyone. There are no identification, income or residency requirements.
The event will be from 10 a.m. until noon at Jerusalem Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 6224 Chadbourn Hwy., Chadbourn.
“We recommend attendees arrive early, as supplies are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis,” said a spokesperson for ACP.
Volunteers for the event should arrive at 9 a.m.
The March 19 event served 219 households with 10,523 pounds of food. Of those households, 451 individuals, including 108 children and 218 senior citizens received groceries.
The pop-up market is different from typical food pantries in that individuals can choose products to take home. It is recommended that anyone attending bring their own boxes and bags if possible.
“The success of this event was due to the dedicated team of volunteers,” said Veronica Brown-Anang of ACP. “Volunteers play a vital role in helping us serve the community. We welcome individuals, families, and groups to join us.”
The Food Bank asks all volunteers to register in advance. On-site registration will be available, but volunteers are encouraged to sign up online.
