A former teacher jailed for coercing a teen girl into performing a sex act has been indicted by a Columbus County grand jury. Jody Watts, age 49, is being held under $750,000 secured bond on 12 charges of first and third degree sexual exploitation of a minor, indecent liberties with a student, and indecent liberties with a minor.
Flu deaths have increased, but the overall number of cases in the state is dropping. The State Division of Health and Human Services said yesterday that more than 500 flu deaths have been reported this season, and the numbers are increasing.
