Green Acres Raid Jails Two

Two men were arrested and narcotics seized after a raid on a Green Acres community home June 14.

Michael Jermaine Strickland, 41, was held under a $10,000 secured bond on charges of trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, marijuana and opiates, and drug paraphernalia. Detention records show he lives at 325 Bright Leaf Rd. Loris.

The sheriff’s office vice-narcotics Detectives and special operations division hit the home on Pine Circle Road with criminal investigations detectives and the sheriff’s HEAT team, according to a press release.

“This investigation began in response to multiple community complaints regarding suspected drug activity in the area,” the release said. “Detectives initiated a thorough investigation involving intelligence gathering, surveillance, and reconnaissance.

“Their findings confirmed that illegal narcotics were actively being trafficked from the residence.”

When deputies moved in on the suspect home, the release said, several individuals fled on foot. One ran through a neighboring yard before he was captured. Willis Henry Boyd, 39, was charged with misdemeanor resisting an officer.

Detectives seized a variety of illegal narcotics, including “crack” cocaine, powder cocaine, and marijuana. A quantity of paraphernalia commonly used in the trafficking and packaging of illegal drugs, along with U.S. currency believed to be proceeds from drug sales, were seized.

This remains an ongoing investigation. Vice-Narcotics Detectives are working to identify additional suspects and determine their roles and level of involvement. Further charges are pending.

“The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Vice-Narcotics Division is committed to dismantling criminal drug operations and keeping our neighborhoods safe,” the release said. “This investigation is one of many efforts to combat the flow of illegal narcotics in Columbus County and underscores the Sheriff’s Office’s proactive approach to public safety and crime prevention.”
