Deputies arrested an impaired, naked man Oct. 5 who said he was being bitten by snakes.
Troy Edward Adkins, 54, of 99 McKeithan Dr., Whiteville, was charged with misdemeanor indecent exposure, and intoxicated and disruptive. He was also charged with an unrelated speeding ticket from Chadbourn Police. His bond was set at $500.
The sheriff’s report said deputies were called to Seven Creeks Highway just after 5 a.m. to after reports of a naked man behaving “erratically”. They found Adkins in a ditch, “exhibiting signs of extreme intoxication and disorientation,” and “pulling at his genital area.”
Adkins reportedly told deputies that “snakes were biting him,” and asked them to “cut the head off,” the report said.
He was transported to Columbus Regional for evaluation, and arrested on his release.
