Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Sunshine and warm temperatures prevail today and Saturday… unseasonable warmth on Saturday and Sunday. A powerful cold front will crash the party late Sunday afternoon, bringing a sudden and dramatic reversal in temperature trends early next week.
A series of weak boundaries will cross the area Saturday and they will bring a few clouds from time to time, but otherwise no impacts.
We will have a warm, rather humid aid mass ahead of the cold front. This will lead to increased instability and the potential for scattered thunderstorms ahead of and along the cold front.
There is an isolated severe threat with the front later Sunday afternoon.
Once the front moves through, it all shuts off leaving us with breezy and cold conditions on Monday and Veterans Day. Overnight lows early Tuesday will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s, depending on what the wind does. If our winds stay rather elevated, then expect slightly warmer lows. On the other hand, if the winds go calm early Monday evening, temps will indeed drop well into the 20s area-wide.
Elevated winds will also prevent much in the way of frost formation Monday night, whereas calm winds will mean a season-ending frost/freeze.
We’ll struggle to reach 50 degrees on Veterans Day, even with full sunshine, thanks to the strength of the Canadian high pressure which will be directly overhead. The high slides off the coast by Tuesday night… I think we’ll stay slightly above freezing, but widespread frost is again a near-certainty. Slightly milder temperatures as the flow becomes more zonal by Wednesday.
TROPICS: There are no areas of tropical interest and no tropical formation is expected through the next 7 days.
The GFS modeling absolutely insists that a tropical system develops south of Jamaica by the middle of the month. Either way, no impacts here.
