Murillo Achieves WTS Certification

Eli Murillo, Lead Cosmetology Instructor at Southeastern Community College, has earned certification through the World Trichology Society (WTS), an international organization dedicated to the scientific study of hair and scalp health and the professional education of trichologists worldwide.

This distinguished credential recognizes Murillo as a Certified Trichologist — a specialist in the science of hair and scalp health — qualifying her to analyze and address conditions such as hair loss, scalp disorders, and hair-fiber damage through evidence-based practices 

The World Trichology Society’s certification program is globally respected for its scientific rigor. It includes advanced coursework in anatomy, physiology, hair-loss disorders, and scalp conditions, followed by practical clinical training under expert supervision. The WTS promotes ethical standards, collaboration between trichologists and healthcare professionals, and continued scientific advancement in the field.  

“This certification represents my lifelong passion for understanding the science behind beautiful, healthy hair,” said Murillo. “I’m thrilled to bring this expertise to our students and community, connecting cosmetology and trichology to help others from both a professional and wellness standpoint.” 

With more than 38 years in the beauty industry, Eli Murillo continues to elevate Southeastern Community College’s cosmetology program by integrating modern trichological education into classroom instruction and client services. Her achievement underscores SCC’s commitment to offering cutting-edge, science-based education in hair, skin, nails, and overall wellness.
