Dogs saved in structure fire.

High winds and dry conditions led Acme-Delco-Riegelwood firefighters hopping Monday, with seven calls in less than 24 hours.

ADR responded mutual aid to a structure fire in the Carvers Creek community of Bladen County, where four dogs were saved form a burning home Monday night.

“Our crews made an aggressive interior attack and were able to save four dogs before conditions forced us to back out,” the department shared in a social media post.

The strong winds ahead of a cold front made the fire more intense, the post said.

ADR was called out to several wildfires over the Christmas holiday period, due to discarded smoking materials or other causes.
