SALEMBURG-Malia Graham posted a rare feat in a frenzied 44-40 comeback loss to Lakewood in girls’ basketball on Friday night.
Graham scored 23 points, snatched 12 rebounds, blocked 11 shots and stole 11 balls from the Leopards. The feat has been done less than 10 times in the history of North Carolina High School Girls Basketball and not since Nov. 18, 2017 when Roxboro Community’s Eliana Ingram did the feat against Oxford Prep. Ingram posted 40 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, and had 14 steals on that day.
East Columbus falls to 7-2 in the Carolina Conference and 12-5 on the season with the loss. They will face Union (3-7, 9-11) in The Swamp on Tuesday. Lakewood (7-3, 13-7) travels to East Bladen (8-2, 17-4) on Tuesday.

CERRO GORDO—West Columbus opened up shutting out Hobbton in the first quarter Friday and ran to a 34-2 halftime lead to crush the Wildcats 55-9 in girls basketball.
Iyana Lowery led the Vikings in scoring with 20 points and added 10 rebounds in the victory. Demya Powell posted 10 points and grabbed 17 rebounds while teammate Kayleigh Maneg contributed 11 steals. West Columbus (2-9, 2-15) will travel to North Duplin (7-2, 15-5) in a Carolina Conference battle on Tuesday. Hobbton falls to 0-9 in the conference and 0-9 overall.

East Bladen Girls 68 Union 51
ROSE HILL—Aaliyah Monroe scored 18 points led five Eagles in double figures as East Bladen defeated Union 68-51 in girls’ basketball.
East Bladen only led by four points at the half but they stiffened up the defense in the second half for the final margin. Ariel Cromartie pumped in 14 points while teammates Sana’a Singletary and Ellen Battle added 13 point and 11 points respectively. Niyah Wooten scored 10 points also in the victory.
The Eagles (8-2, 17-4) moved into first place in the Carolina Conference with the win. Hobbton was led by Zadariyah Faison with 22 points and Centavia McKoy added 17 points in the loss. The Spartans (3-7, 9-11) will visit The Swamp today (Monday) to face East Columbus (7-2, 12-5).

RED SPRINGS—Saniya Sinclair scored 10 points to lead the Red Devils to 43-39 victory over West Bladen Friday night. It was the first conference win for the Red Devils.
Red Springs (1-7, 3-16) only led 22-20 at the half. The Red Devils will host to Whiteville (4-3, 7-11) on Tuesday. West Bladen (2-6, 4-15) was led by Kali Allen, who posted a double–double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Knights will host South Columbus (2-7, 4-16) Tuesday.
