Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

The big thing to focus on today’s report is the rain that will visit the area this afternoon through tonight.

A warm front will lift north over the area early this afternoon. Moisture lifting up and over this boundary will result in showers breaking out over the area from late this morning through the afternoon. Low pressure over central Alabama will eventually move to central South Carolina by late tonight, and then off the coast by early Monday morning.

Periods of rain and possibly some thunder can be expected this afternoon through tonight… with rain tapering off from west to east well after midnight.

There are some discrepancies with the modeling as to how much rain we’re slated to get. Some range from as little as a quarter of an inch to others pushing upwards of an inch. I think it’s safe to go toward the upper end of the range… I’m expecting between 0.75″ and 1.0″ for the event.

It all becomes a memory by Monday afternoon as high pressure builds back into the area. The high starts to give way to a larger weather system which will be traversing the central part of the US late in the week… a frontal boundary should approach on Friday.

The big story for the coming work week will be the WARM temps … running much above seasonal normal values. We’ll be flirting with the 80-degree mark Thursday and Friday ahead of the front. Longer-range modeling shows temps returning back to seasonal normal values beyond the extended forecast period.
